Interview by Nikita at Atlanta Bound 2009 - Update

Journal Entry: Sun Jul 12, 2009, 8:13 PM
I recently received the link to an interview from Atlanta Bound, 2009. Nikita from Atlanta was the interviewer and yes I am the interviewee... If you dare to listen to my words beware...I sound like a bullfrog...LOL....enjoy everyone...I talk about many topics; my relationship with slave judy, lifestyle, my beginnings, photography projects and reBOUND which is my hope to be printed one day new book.

The link to the interview is [link]

I brief update on reBOUND...I have had moderate success with the pre print sale. From that sale I did raise 1/3 the funds necessary to go to print. I need 100 more people to come forward and commit to a pre sale copy in order to go to print. This past weekend I have refunded everyone who has prepaid for a copy and have put them on a list of people who will be notified when I reach my goal of 150 copies sold. So, if you are interested in a copy just send me an email of your intention to davidlawrence@shibariartphotography.com.

Hope you enjoy the interview.....have a great summer...

If you are interested in a copy of reBOUND you can be put on the pre print sale list. A full digital version is on line on my website and is nothing like having a printed copy! So, send me an email to reserve your copy today...thanks.. [link]

Thanx for taking the time to go through my work and glad you enjoyed it and off course the for the fav's. May i ask you what you know about what drives people to do bondage and find it enjoyable? I myself only know the imagery which i like and find interesting but always keep wondering why they like to go through this pain and submission. It seems it often has this dark feel to it and that it is almost a bad thing. But as far as i know it's a very serious thing where the "slave" has to rely on the person who does the bondage. So there is a big sense of intimacy i would say.
I'm just curious and you seem to be the one to ask :)
:icondavidlawrence:
You are welcome...and visa versa.

To answer your question(s) about bondage...I think that for people who are unfamiliar it is understandable that one would think it is about pain. Actually it is not. Rope provides a sense of confinement and submission of one's self and does not necessarily mean that the person being tied is submissive. It is a place where one can delve into their inner space and release themselves from the outside world. Then again, there may very well be a pain and submission perspective if that is the purpose of the bondage. On another note it could be just for the art of the tie to be captured on film/digital mediums. The point is that bondage, rope and other forms, is open to many interpretations and purposes. Does this make sense to you?

Allright, i think i do understand... it seems it goes beyond pain and for some it's almost a kind of meditational thing. I never thought off it that way. And yeah off course it's just what you want from it, i understand. Somehow i always saw it as a sexual thing.

Very big thanx for awnsering my questions.
Much appriciated!
Sorry if my english is not flawless.

Greetings from the Netherlands

Why is that? it seems to me that the more i look at your work and others there is a social network which is more representative of a sub culture. I started looking at Alt-Images favs and he wound up having over 7800...took a few hours. But the most interesting part is comparing the photographers i find who intrigue me most. in large part because of the shibari. Others i love to watch and like i can't wait to see their next deviation include you, Alt-Image, JoseManchado, Photoswithattitude and DavidSamson. but hey you gave me more deviants to watch so fun times.
:icondavidlawrence:
It makes sense to me to look at what an artist likes...it does provide some insight into their tastes and motivations I think. As I expressed, no one has ever commented to me on the fav's I select. I just found that interesting...thanks for your appreciation of my creations...enjoy and I look forward to corresponding more with you...
